Ministry

Weekend Ministry

Lakeview students currently serve in over 15 locations in the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. as preachers, counselors, musicians, youth leaders, evangelists, Bible teachers, administrators and in many other areas of service. Specialized ministries to HIV- and AIDS-affected children and adults, destitute women and children, and senior citizens all together enable our students to visibly demonstrate the love of our Lord and Saviour to His lost and needy world.

Each Friday after dinner, from 8:30 pm to 10 pm, students pray together committing their weekends to God’s leading and power before leaving the campus for their ministries. The college provides special transport facilities for women students to return to campus late on Sunday evenings.

Summer Ministry

For the Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) and Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degrees, every student must undertake a month-long cross-cultural missionary internship. This gives students a first-hand experience of missionary life and work and what it means to incarnate Christ and the gospel to the world. LBC&S coordinates this ministry with the concerned churches and missions all over India where students serve each summer. This practical training will take place after completion of two years of study.

Missionary internships will be evaluated and graded with the input of the host mission/church, the student and the Lakeview staff who supervise this ministry.

Missions Club

In keeping with our vision and purpose, the Lakeview Missions Club (A1:8) builds a missionary mind-set into our student body. Formal workshops and training sessions are conducted and outreach programmes are organized in local schools, colleges and other institutions around Chennai. The Missions Club is also responsible for organizing Lakeview's cross-cultural Missionary Internship programme every year.

Sigma

Lakeview has entered into a strategic partnership with SIGMA (South India Gospel Mission in Action) to establish new churches in South India and beyond. SIGMA was founded and is led by Lakeview faculty-member, Mr. V. Solomon Yesudoss, and enjoys the participation of several staff and students in this vibrant new church ministry. All prospective SIGMA church-planters will receive their Biblical and practical training at Lakeview. Present students may also avail of the opportunity to be involved in planting a new church through SIGMA.

Every student in the Bachelor of Ministry degree is required to fulfill an internship training as a new church planter for three months under SIGMA. This experience not only develops in students the skill to plant churches themselves, but may also be an avenue to join the ministry of SIGMA.
